Hair ID[entity] (Read as 'Her Identity')

This portrait is part of a series of artwork projects titled 'Hair [Her] piece', which aims to express and restore the pride of wearing our hair. Hair was a significant symbol of certain beliefs, cultures, and identity. Hair has an underlying belief system, including spiritual customs; in other religions, hair is said to be sacred. Historically, hairstyles such as Afros, straight hair, and braids symbolised different meanings for individuals, religions, or age groups.

South African Indigenous Plant Species
A series of 4x artwork with different sizes.
This artwork is inspired by the resilient indigenous plant species of South Africa, which comprises Strelitzia nicolai and reginae, Aloe arborescens, and Clivia miniata.
